I love water and I drink plenty of it, in fact my husband calls me a fish. I mainly drink water and variations on a theme of tea. There are times when you just want something that isn’t water and in the summer a hot cuppa doesn’t always hit the spot.
Years ago I worked in a beach cafe and one year we sold iced tea, cold from the fridge but with it ice. I tried it a few times and it just didn’t agree with my taste buds. So I’ve always steered away from it. Recently a friend gave me a glass of iced Rooibos tea and it was lovely. Hence I set about trying making it myself. Being Rooibos tea this is caffeine free and apparently the used tea bags are great for helping eczema (I haven’t tested this out).
I’m loving this and plan to try a few others teas iced. You will need to adjust the honey to suit your taste.
- 3 Rooibos Teabags
- 1 litre water
- Juice 2 oranges
- 2 oranges sliced up
- Handful of mint leaves
- 1 tbsp honey or more to taste
- Ice
- Boil the kettle, then make up the Rooibos tea leaving the teabags in the boiled water for 15 minutes. Leave to cool and remove the teabags.
- Juice the oranges, when the tea has cooled add in the juice.
- Sice up the 2 oranges and add to the tea with the mint leaves, leave it to infuse in the fridge.
- Add honey to taste and serve in a tall glass over ice.
