A day in the life of a dietitian’s tummy #WIAWRD

So I was challenged last week by Nic from Nic’s Nutrition to share what I ate on a Wednesday, #WIAWRD. Catchy huh! I’m quite a nosy girl at heart so I love the idea of having a little snapshot into other peoples days, especially other dietitian’s diets! Wednesday for me is a no exercise day so you get there are less snacks in here than some other days. Mondays are my marathon day for with 5 classes to teach so I usually have a glass of wine and some cheese and biscuits at the end of it 😉

I always start the day with a big breakfast. Porridge is my staple. Here I’ve got 30g oats with a handful or raisins, 1 apple sliced up, skimmed milk, cinnamon and a dollop of natural yogurt. Plus the most important item: a large cup of loose leaf tea. My caffeine boost.

Mid morning I had a homemade flapjack. Banana and a sultana with more tea and some water.

Lunch was eaten with my toddler. We love having lots of bits to nibble on. Here I’ve got corn cakes, homemade falafel, a little Camembert, peppers, sweet corn and chutney. Yum. Plus water to drink.

In the afternoon I had some camomile tea with a banana and almonds.

Dinner was an Aubergine and lentil curry with rice packed full of veggies.

We eat dinner early with the children so I have to eat before bed. I love having a large bowl of fruit and yoghurt. This is homemade yoghurt and it’s delicious 🙂

I also had a little bit of dark chocolate to get me through the last evening feed with baby, my breastfeeding treat!

So as you can see I snack throughout the day to keep my energy levels up. I eat a lot of oats which are low in glycaemic index and keep me full. I ate 7 portions of fruit and veg on this day which is fairly normal for me and I had 3 portions of calcium foods. My protein sources were lentils, yoghurt, almonds and cheese (I’m a wannabe vegetarian) and I drink a lot of water.

What does your Wednesday look like and what do you think of mine?
